The UAB CMF, Microvascular, and Neuroplastic Reconstructive Fellow will have a unique opportunity to learn very specialized techniques in order to tackle the most difficult of reconstructive situations including trauma, tumor extirpation, vascular disease, and congenital malformations. The expectation is that by the end of the fellowship they would have a masterful understanding of the uses of Virtual Surgical Planning and custom guides and hardware in the treatment of complex problems that frequently blend the areas of craniofacial surgery and microsurgery.

Plastic Surgery Trauma Fellowship -2020  / Brigham and Women’s Hospital, MA

The Stepping Strong Plastic Surgery Trauma fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, BWH, is a unique 1-year fellowship designed to train plastic surgeons in advanced, innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to complex traumatic injuries including microsurgery. Fellows will gain proficiency and independence with complex local tissue flaps, free tissue transfer, delayed reconstruction and flap refinements.
Applications for August 2020 should include CV medical school transcripts, current and former program director’s recommendations, in-service exam scores, other letters of reference and a personal statement. Zoom interviews will be offered in June 2020.

Our burn treatment center has been verified by the American Burn Association since 1996, and the hospital has been designated by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients. Many of our past fellows have combined the one-year burn fellowship with an additional one-year surgical critical care fellowship. This comprehensive program offering provides our fellows with the training to sit for the American Board of Surgery Examination in Surgical Critical Care.
