A 2-3-year bench research fellowship is available at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and is designed to prepare scientists for successful research careers in Endocrinology, Cardiology, and/or Nephrology. The program investigates the genetic underpinnings of hormonal mechanisms associated with cardiovascular and renal phenotypes of hypertension and diabetes with training in cell, organ and animal physiology, cell and molecular biology. Genes currently under investigation include: caveolin 1, angiotensinogen, LSD1, striatin, mTORC, beta 2 adrenergic receptor and estrogen receptor beta. The program is uniquely associated with a human genetics unit in an overall translational research group with a common goal of developing specific approaches to personalized medicine. Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD and must be a US citizen or permanent resident. This well-established program has been supported by an NIH T32 Training Grant for more than 40 years; salaries are based on the current NIH stipend levels. More than 75% of the graduates have research careers in academia, government or industry.

The University of Michigan has established a multi-disciplinary cardiac imaging fellowship program involving Cardiac CT, Echocardiography, Cardiac MRI, Nuclear Cardiology. We are looking for candidates who have completed either three years of Cardiology or four years of Radiology who wish to pursue a career in cardiac imaging. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to achieve level 3 training over one, possibly two years, in one or more imaging modalities depending on level of prior training.

Advanced IBD fellowship offers a one year training in clinical management of inflammatory bowel disease and the attendant cutting edge therapies (biologics, oral small molecules) as well as provide formal training in research methodology (an immersive 6 week course) to create talented physicians with the ability to launch clinical research careers. The position is 50% clinical IBD and 50% dedicated research and is located on the Upper East Side in New York City. There will opportunities to master endoscopic techniques specific to IBD, including endoscopic management of strictures, deep enteroscopy, chromoendoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy. The candidate will participate as a sub- investigator of pharmaceutical clinical trials as well as investigator initiated studies.
